What time does GTA 6 unlock?
GTA 6 releases on November 19, 2026, but Rockstar has not confirmed the exact unlock time yet. There are two likely ways it plays out, and this page shows what each one means where you live.
Scenario 1: midnight local time
Most console games unlock at midnight in each region. In that case players in New Zealand get GTA 6 first, at 12:00 AM on November 19 local time, followed by Australia, Asia, Europe and finally the Americas. Someone in Los Angeles would wait almost a full day longer than someone in Auckland.
This is the most common setup for big PlayStation and Xbox releases when the game is bought digitally and preloaded.
Scenario 2: one worldwide moment
Some huge launches unlock everywhere at the same instant, usually midnight Eastern Time. For GTA 6 that would look like this:
Los Angeles 9:00 PM on November 18 · New York 12:00 AM on November 19 · London 5:00 AM · Amsterdam, Paris, Berlin 6:00 AM · Dubai 9:00 AM · India 10:30 AM · Tokyo 2:00 PM · Sydney 4:00 PM, all on November 19.
Why Rockstar has not said yet
Publishers usually confirm unlock times close to launch, often in the same week preloading opens. GTA 6 preloading starts on November 10, 2026, so that is the most likely moment for an official answer. We update this page as soon as Rockstar or PlayStation and Xbox publish it.
How to play the second it unlocks
Pre-order the digital version, then preload it on PS5 or on Xbox from November 10. With the game already downloaded, it only needs a small unlock when the time hits. A physical disc still needs a large install and usually a day one patch, so it will not be playable the exact second it unlocks.
Also leave your console in rest mode (PS5) or with standby enabled (Xbox) the night before, so any last update downloads on its own.
